Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Services

At Domiciliary Care SA, client feedback has shaped our services in regard to our Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander clients.

Our vision is that Domiciliary Care SA will lead the way in the provision of culturally appropriate, respectful and effective services for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people. We have adopted strategies that address the inequities sometimes experienced by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples accessing health services.

For many Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander families and communities, patterns of disadvantage and poor health – combined with historical factors of dispossession – are reflected in the below-average health outcomes, identified in reports such as the Generational Health Review Ways Forward report, the Cultural Respect Framework for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health and the Report of the Standing Committee for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Health.
